Abbaye Saint-Michel - Hotel Tonnerre
Abbaye Saint-Michel - Tonnerre
Welcome in the Yonne: this is Burgundy at the doorsteps of Paris, with its small valleys and plains, its vineyards of Chablis and Epineuil ; the Renaissance castles of Tanlay and Ancy le Franc; the old cities of Auxerre and Avallon as well as the medieval townlet of Noyers sur Serein, the Abbeys of Pontigny, Vezelay, Fontenay and Tonnerre.
Tonnerre, home to the Queen of Jerusalem, Marguerite of Burgundy who founded the Hôtel-Dieu in the XIIIth century; its Fosse Dionne, an ancient public wash-house fed by a spring from the Vaucluse; its Renaissance hotel of the Knight of Eon (Chevalier d'Eon); its abbey of Saint-Michel where, after Joan of Arc, today's pilgrims are welcome.
Benedictine abbey
The Saint-Michel abbey is an old Benedictine abbey of the Xth century. It has been recently lavishly renovated to enable us welcome you in its luxurious four- star accomodations, all rooms under a majestic framework, one of which is the old charter room where XIII century frescoes can be contemplated.
You will also relax on our summer terrace or stroll along the alleys of our magnificent 3.7 ha park overlooking the city of Tonnerre and the valley of the Armançon.
